We are seeking a highly creative, digitally skilled, and detail-oriented Media and Communications Assistant to support storytelling, advocacy, and digital engagement. The ideal candidate should be confident in visual design, social media management, content production, and basic digital tools used in modern communications work. You should be passionate about using media to drive social change, particularly around gender equality, health, and human rights.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow organizational social media platforms (Instagram, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Create engaging digital content including posts, reels, stories, and campaign materials
- Design high-quality graphics, flyers, infographics, and branded content using Canva or Adobe tools
- Support content creation through photography and videography during events, field activities, and campaigns
- Assist in basic video editing and content packaging for digital platforms
- Maintain and update the organization’s website using WordPress
- Support virtual meetings and webinars using Zoom, including technical setup and coordination
- Develop and manage content calendars aligned with campaigns and organizational priorities
- Monitor engagement metrics and prepare simple performance reports
- Ensure consistent branding, messaging, and storytelling across all platforms
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, or related field
- 1–2 years of relevant experience (internships and volunteer experience acceptable)
- Strong graphic design skills (Canva required; Adobe Suite is an added advantage)
- Proven ability to manage social media platforms professionally
- Experience with WordPress website management
- Basic photography and videography skills for content creation
- Familiarity with Zoom or similar virtual meeting platforms
- Strong writing and storytelling abilities
- Good understanding of digital communication and audience engagement
- Interest in gender equality, SRHR, public health, or development communication is an advantage
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
